Terms and Conditions
Please carefully read the below terms and conditions before placing an order with Alyssa's Bakery.
By placing your order, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
Payment Conditions
Prices
-
Following your enquiry, your quote is valid for 3 working days. Paying the initial payment secures this price and prevents further increases, except in exceptional circumstances beyond my control.
-
If you require extra toppers or specialised decorations, the cost of these will be added to the initial payment and is also non-refundable once purchased.
Payment Terms
-
Full payment is required to secure the commission of your cake and your chosen date. This includes the initial deposit, and the remaining balance due 1 week before collection. Full payment is required before any work starts. Failure to pay the balance may result in a cancellation. If payment is not received within 3 days of quoting, I reserve the right to cancel any previous arrangements and release the date.
-
Short-Notice Orders: All orders placed within 2 weeks of the required collection date must be paid for in full immediately.
Cancellations & Refunds
-
Customer Cancellations: If you have made full payment, you are entitled to a refund for cancellations made 7 or more business days in advance of the requested date. Late cancellations are not entitled to a refund, though I may offer refunds or credit at my own discretion.
-
The cost of any custom items already purchased (toppers, etc.) will be deducted from any eligible refunds.
-
Bakery Cancellations: I retain the right to cancel a booking in very unusual circumstances, such as ill health. In this case, any money taken will be refunded to you in full.
Returns & Refunds
All products are baked to order; therefore, returns are not accepted.

-
Postal Orders: Refunds, credit, or replacements are only given if you receive the incorrect product or if the products are shown to be of unsatisfactory quality. You must contact me within 48 hours of receipt. I cannot accept liability for complaints made after this time. I am not responsible for delays or damage caused by postal couriers. Orders returned to me due to incorrect addresses or failed deliveries cannot be re-sent or refunded as items are perishable.
-
Celebration Cakes: If you are unsatisfied with the quality, you must contact me in writing within 24 hours of receipt with photographic evidence. I do not accept liability for complaints made after this time, or for damage made after the cake leaves my premises.
-
In the event of a complaint, the product must be returned for inspection. A minimum of 80% of the product must be returned to be eligible for a refund. Please note, returning the cake does not guarantee a refund. I am not liable for costs incurred during the return process.
After Collection
Collection & Transport
-
All products are made fresh to order for your collection date.
-
I will not be held liable for any damage to your order once it has left my premises. I photograph all cakes as proof of their condition prior to collection.
-
Please follow the cake care instructions provided. I recommend placing them on a flat, level surface like the footwell or boot of your car, and ensuring that your cake is cool prior to collection.
Consumption & Storage
-
Shelf Life: Cakes can last between 3-7 days if stored properly. Cupcakes are best eaten within 24–48 hours of collection. Brownies and blondies last longer and should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge to extend their freshness. Cookies should also be kept in an airtight container at room temperature. Please see my cake care instructions for more information.
-
Freezing: All bakes are suitable for freezing (up to 3 months). Defrost fully before consumption and eat on the same day. Do not re-freeze.
Allergies & Special Dietary Requirements
Allergens
My products are made in a domestic kitchen with a dedicated baking area and a separate oven, which handles all main allergens, including gluten (wheat), eggs, milk, mustard, peanuts, sesame, soya, sulphur dioxide/sulphites, and tree nuts. While I take steps to control cross-contamination, I cannot 100% guarantee the absence of these allergens.
You must notify me of any food allergies before placing your order.

Non-Edible Items
Some cakes may contain inedible supports (dowels, rods) or toppers. It is your responsibility to ensure these are removed before serving. Some sprinkles may contain raw pasta and should also be removed.

Rights to Images: I reserve the right to take photographs of your finished order and use these images on my website, social media, and marketing materials to publicise my work.Privacy: If your cake is for a surprise event, please let me know so I can delay posting the images until after the event has taken place.
Final Agreement
By paying your initial payment or booking fee, you are confirming that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
Weddings
Alyssa's Bakery takes full responsibility for the cake's condition up to the point of delivery and setup at the venue (or up to the point of collection from the bakery, where collection has been arranged).
Once the cake has been successfully delivered and set up at the venue (or once it has been collected), responsibility for the cake passes to the couple and/or venue. Alyssa's Bakery cannot accept liability for any damage, collapse, melting, contamination, deterioration, or loss occurring after this point, including (but not limited to) damage caused by venue staff, guests, children, other suppliers, weather conditions, transport by the couple, or unsuitable storage conditions. This also includes any damage resulting from the cake being moved, relocated, dismantled, or otherwise interfered with after setup has been completed.

Wedding cakes, particularly those finished with buttercream and/or consisting of multiple tiers, are sensitive to heat, humidity, direct sunlight, and movement. It is the couple's responsibility, in liaison with the venue, to ensure that the following conditions are met before the cake arrives:
-
A suitable, stable, level surface is available for the cake, capable of safely supporting its full weight.
-
The cake is displayed indoors in a cool location, out of direct sunlight and away from radiators, heaters, fireplaces, kitchens, windows with prolonged sun exposure, or conservatories/marquees without adequate temperature control.
-
The venue provides reasonable temperature control appropriate to the season. During warm weather, this may include air conditioning, fans, or refrigerated storage until the cake is required for display.
-
If the venue does not have air conditioning, adequate cooling, or suitable refrigerated storage available, the couple must notify Alyssa's Bakery no later than 2 weeks before the wedding date. This allows appropriate adjustments to be made to the cake's filling, covering, or internal structure to maximise stability in the expected conditions. Such adjustments (including, but not limited to, the use of white chocolate ganache, additional internal supports, or structural design changes) may incur an additional charge, which will be confirmed before the final balance is due.
-
Even where such adjustments have been made, no cake can be guaranteed to remain unaffected by excessive heat or humidity. Alyssa's Bakery accepts no liability for damage, movement, melting, leaning, cracking, or collapse resulting from unsuitable environmental conditions or where the above information was not provided in advance.
-
Where delivery has been arranged, the couple and/or venue must ensure that suitable parking is available as close as reasonably possible to the venue entrance or delivery point. Alyssa's Bakery accepts no responsibility for damage arising from the cake having to be transported over excessive distances, across uneven ground, up or down stairs, or where safe access has not been provided. Adequate time must be allowed before guests arrive for delivery and setup to be completed.
-
Where the cake is delivered in advance of the reception (including the day before), the venue must be able to provide suitable storage until the cake is displayed.
